Tribe alternative starting to get going...

We're really starting to hum over at www.free-association.net ...we have some forums started, profiles, image galleries, blogs, and the next revision should bring forums (or as we're calling 'em, "Associations") to a much more recognizably "Tribe-like" functionality. We're only at an 0.1 release level right now, so it's only going to get better...and that DEFINITELY includes the UI, so don't worry about that yet.

BTW, we REALLY need PHP/HTML coders and database grrls!

      Hey Sonya Lyn,
      I am interested in checking it out, but right now I'm at work and can only parouse work-appropriate sites. Would you say this site was more freely 'adult' and not a good idea for me to check, or is it safe-ish?

        Well, for now, there's not any not-work-safe content to speak of, tho that is our intention in the future...tho, again, it would be a lot like perusing Tribe at work in the good old days...if you don't hit forums like "Anal Sex" at work, then you're not gonna see that content. There wouldn't be any *SURPRISE* flesh or anything, any more than there would be in viewing tribes or someone's image gallery before the new TOU hit.

        And if you have any dev skills (we basically need people with HTML and/or PHP and/or MySQL skillz), that would be a major bonus. :-)

              Well Sonia-Lyn. I must confess I do want to support the non-commercial, non-censored community, but all of my buddies are here, and most of them have said that they are fine with the way Tribe is.

              For my part, I don't mind having a clear delineation between 'adult' and non areas since my only internet access is through work. I don't have an issue so much with ads, though would prefer the ones in the threads to be gone. I think my biggest complaint is with the way the paid staff is treating the volunteers, but if all of my friends are staying here, then I am left with staying.

              : (

              I do think that it is a noble cause to start. Good luck with it. : )
